There are many educational resources for Lightning Network out there. What follows is simply my personal favorite Lightning Network resources which are helpful for beginners in no particular order.
LN.Guide
LN.Guide is a resource put together by Bitcoin Q+A. This resource gives brief overview of the lightning network and how it works. This resource is targeted at beginners and goes through components and concepts of the Lightning Network.
Lightning Network Resources by Jameson Lopp
Lightning Network Resources is put together by Lopp and it is a great place to go when you are looking for something specific regarding the Lightning Network. If you want to learn about the history, watch videos, podacsts, merchant tools, nodes, etc. then this is the place to go.
Ion Lightning Wiki
For those who prefer a more traditional wiki-style resource for Lightning Network topics, terms, and details, then the ion Lightning Wiki is my recommended resource. Go here if you hear a terminology that you need an explanation for. There are also some tutorials and events list on this page so go check it out!
MIT Engineering and Design, Spring 2018 Playlist
For those looking to understand Lightning on a foundational level with a bit more of a technical twist, the MIT MAS.S62 playlist is perfect for you. Many of the videos are presented by one of the authors of the Lightning Network Whitepaper, Thaddeus Dryja, and is presented in a way that I think most people would understand, especially if you are already a bitcoiner looking to get a handle on what Lightning is all about.
Mastering the Lightning Network
Mastering the Lightning Network is an open-source book project organized by Andreas Antonopoulos and Rene Pickardt. This book starts at the very basic level of Lightning and slowly ramps up to be more and more complex and technical. It is a free and open-source book which can be accessed on the github repo here. It can also be purchased in paper form (which I HIGHLY recommend) on Amazon here.
Alright, everyone. I hope you will enjoy these resources on your continuing journey with the Lightning Network. Catch you in the next one!
